My journey into hair extensions started when I realized that sometimes, color and a great haircut simply aren’t enough to give someone the hair they’ve always wanted.

I had spent years refining my craft in cutting, styling, and color, but with many of my fine-haired clients, there was only so much I could achieve with the hair they naturally had. Extensions completely changed what was possible.

Being able to give my clients the length, fullness, and confidence they had always wanted sparked a passion in me to learn everything I could about extensions and how to do them at the highest level.

Over the years, I’ve trained and become certified in numerous extension methods. But more options don’t always mean better options. Today, there are only two methods I truly believe offer the best combination of beautiful results, longevity, and protection of the natural hair—and nearly 90% of my extension clientele wears the method I trust most.

Extension Methods

After years of education, certifications, and working with nearly every type of extension method, I’ve narrowed my work down to the two methods I believe offer the best results while prioritizing the integrity of your natural hair.

Sew-In Wefts

You may have heard them called beaded rows, hand-tied extensions, sew-in extensions, or wefts. While techniques vary, the concept is similar: a customized beaded foundation is created in rows, and extension wefts are sewn onto that foundation.

This is the method the majority of my extension clients wear because it allows me to create incredible length and fullness while installing a significant amount of hair efficiently.

Why I love them:

Extension hair can last up to a year with proper home care
Incredible for adding length and volume
Helps create a seamless blend on shorter or thicker hair
A lot of hair can be installed without hundreds of individual attachment points

Things to consider:

Maintenance is typically every 6–9 weeks
May not be the best option for extremely fine or fragile hair
Rows can limit placement for clients who frequently wear their hair up

K-Tip Extensions

K-tips are tiny, individual extensions bonded to small sections of your natural hair. Because each extension moves independently, they create incredibly natural movement and allow for much more flexibility in styling.

I especially love K-tips for clients with very fine hair, clients who wear their hair up frequently, or anyone who wants to go longer between extension appointments.

Why I love them:

Incredible flexibility and natural movement
Great for very fine hair
Easy to wear in ponytails and upstyles
No move-up appointments
Typically worn for 3–4 months before replacement

Things to consider:

K-tip hair is not reused
Because new hair is installed each time, the annual investment is typically higher than sew-in wefts
